What the 2026 notice asks for
These figures are from Appendix II of Examination Notice No. 08/2026-CAPF, dated 20 February 2026. Read on 18 October 2026.
| File | Format | Size | Pixel size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | .jpg | 20–200 KB | Not set |
| Signature | .jpg | 20–100 KB | Not set |
A minimum as well as a maximum
The notice says each file must not exceed its limit and must not be less than 20 KB. Phone photographs are usually far over 200 KB, but a clean signature on white paper can compress under 20 KB. The tool keeps both inside the range, and tells you when it had to add data to reach the minimum.
The notice says to scan before you start
The notice tells candidates that before filling in the online application they must have their photograph and signature scanned in .jpg format within those sizes. That means the files should be ready before you open the form, so prepare both here first and keep them where you can find them.
Your exam may say something else
UPSC publishes a notice for each examination, and limits can differ between them. This page uses the CAPF (AC) 2026 notice. Read the notice or the upload instructions for the exam you are applying to before you upload.
