Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a photo for a passport application?

Tap the "Passport (2x2 in)" preset for the common 600 x 600 pixel US requirement, or "Visa 35x45 mm" for the European and Asian standard. Use the "Fill & crop" fit so the final image matches the required dimensions exactly rather than being padded.

What is the difference between fill, fit and stretch?

"Fill & crop" scales your image up until it covers the whole target size and trims whatever hangs over the edges, so nothing looks squashed. "Fit inside" keeps your entire image visible and adds coloured padding to fill the gaps. "Stretch" forces the image into the exact size, which can distort it.

Will resizing make my image blurry?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it much larger than the original will look soft, because the extra pixels have to be invented — there is no additional detail in the source file to recover.

Is my photo uploaded to your servers?

No. The resizing happens in your browser using your own device, so the image never leaves your computer or phone. That makes it safe for ID documents and other sensitive photos.

Can I resize an image to a specific file size in KB?

This tool changes the pixel dimensions. If you need to hit an exact file size such as 100 KB, use our Image Compressor, which has a target size mode built for exactly that.
