Why scanned pages come out sideways
A scanner records the page in whatever orientation it was fed, and a phone camera stores an orientation flag that different programs interpret differently. Neither knows which way up the words are. The result is the familiar one: a document that reads perfectly on one device and sideways on another, or a single landscape table stranded in a portrait report.
Rotating is not the same as re-scanning
Rotation changes how the page is displayed, not what is on it, so nothing is re-rendered and no quality is lost however many times you turn a page. This also means the correction is permanent and travels with the file: once saved, the pages open the right way up everywhere, rather than relying on each reader to guess.
Fixing one page in a long document
The common case is a report where a single wide table was scanned in landscape and everything else is upright. Rotate only that page rather than the document, so the rest keeps its correct orientation.
