Compress JPEG files online
Make your JPEG photos dramatically smaller without an obvious drop in quality. Add one file or dozens — they are all compressed on your own device, with no upload and no limit.
or tap to browse — you can pick several at once
Compression happens inside your browser, so even large photos are never uploaded.
Compression level
Why JPEGs are usually far bigger than they need to be
Phone and camera software saves at a very high quality setting by default, because it has no idea what you will do with the photo. For anything viewed on a screen, that setting is wasteful. Dropping to a well-chosen quality level routinely cuts file size by 60 to 80 percent with no difference visible at normal viewing distance.
Compressing many photos at once
You can select an entire folder of images and compress them in one pass. Each file is processed by your own device, so there is no upload queue, no per-file cost and no daily cap — the only limit is how much memory your browser has available.
Frequently asked questions
Does compressing a JPEG twice make it worse?
Yes. JPEG compression is lossy, so each save discards a little more detail permanently. Always compress from your original file rather than from a previously compressed copy, and keep the original if you might need it again.
How much smaller will my JPEG get?
Typically 60 to 80 percent smaller at the Balanced setting. Photos with lots of smooth areas such as sky or plain walls shrink the most; images dense with fine texture shrink least.
Is there a limit on how many files I can compress?
No. Because your device does the work rather than our servers, there is no cost per image to us and therefore no cap, no account and no watermark.
