Flatten a filled-in PDF form
Turn the fields you filled in on a PDF form into fixed text on the page, so they can no longer be edited or lost when the file is opened somewhere else. The text stays selectable.

Frequently asked questions
What does flattening do?
A PDF form keeps your answers in fields that can be edited, and some viewers show them differently or not at all. Flattening writes the answers onto the page itself so every viewer shows the same thing. The text stays selectable; the page is not turned into a picture.
Can I edit the form afterwards?
No. Once flattened, the fields are gone. Keep your original if you might need to change an answer.
Does it work on every government form?
No. Some forms are built on Adobe’s XFA format, which this tool cannot read. If a flattened file comes back blank or shows only a message about needing Adobe Reader, the form is of that kind; open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader, fill it in there and print it to PDF instead.
Will it make a portal accept my file?
Not necessarily. Portals reject files for many reasons, and a flattened file is only one of the things they can ask for. Check the portal’s own instructions.
